Weddings
We are delighted that you are considering being married in our church.

A wedding is a time for celebration as two people publicly commit
themselves to each other and become officially a couple. It is a time for families and friends to share the joy of the couple getting married.

When the wedding takes place in church then it is also a time to ask God's blessing on the relationship.
Our church is Norman, the original part dating from 1152, and set in attractive surroundings.

You can marry in our church if you can show:- That one of you:
  • has at any time lived in our parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • was baptised in our parish. or
  • was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
  • has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in our parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
  • That one of your parents, at any time after you were born: has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
  • That one of your parents or grandparents: was married in the parish.
Even if you cannot demonstrate any of the above connections, we will help you explore whether it may still be possible for you to marry in our church.

If either of you have been married before and your previous spouse is still living it is possible to be married in church. This will be handled on an individual basis following the completion of an enquiry form and a meeting.

The first thing you should do is to contact our Rector Rev.Bill Britt to arrange a date. You can contact him by telephone 01462 730218.

Our organist will be happy to help you select music and hymns for the wedding.

If you need Banns reading in our church but are getting married elsewhere please contact Alison Collis. You can contact her by  telephoning 01462 625637.

If you choose to marry in church, it will be a day that is personal and special for you, but that need not mean you spend a fortune. There is no doubt that the choices you make about your wedding day can make a huge impact on the total cost. Part of the cost will be for the legal fees, and everyone pays this. There are also optional extras which you can choose or decline, according to your budget.
